The Patigi Emirate Youths’ Forum has commended the Senator representing Kwara North Senatorial District, Suleiman Sadiq Umar, for what it described as his remarkable contributions and achievements during his nearly eight years of service in the Senate.
In an appreciation message signed by the President of the forum and Sarki Samari of Etsu Patigi, Engr. Hamza Nma Ndawuya, the group acknowledged the senator’s role in bringing development, empowerment opportunities, and effective representation to communities across Kwara North.
The forum prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, strength, and blessings upon the senator in his future endeavors and aspirations.
However, the group also appealed to the lawmaker to reconsider any reported ambition to seek another term in office, citing the long-standing zoning arrangement within Kwara North Senatorial District since the return of democratic governance in 1999.
According to the statement, the zoning principle has helped to sustain fairness, equity, unity, and peaceful political coexistence among the constituent local governments in the district.
The youths’ forum maintained that, based on the existing political understanding, the next senatorial slot should be ceded to Patigi Local Government Area after Kaiama Local Government Area would have completed eight uninterrupted years in the Senate by the end of Senator Umar’s current tenure.
The group appealed to the senator’s sense of statesmanship, fairness, and political maturity to support the continuation of the zoning arrangement by allowing Patigi Local Government Area to take what it described as its rightful turn.
The statement further noted that such a decision would strengthen unity and harmony within Kwara North and preserve the long-standing political balance and inclusiveness among the people of the district.
The forum added that Senator Umar’s legacy as a leader who upheld justice, fairness, and unity would continue to be remembered and appreciated by generations to come.
