Tragedy struck Mawogi village in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State as suspected bandits launched a deadly attack between 11 p.m. and midnight.
During the attack, the assailants shot a mother and her son, killing the son on the spot while the mother sustained serious injuries. The deceased has been identified as Yanma Ndawodi, the Youth Leader of the community, while the injured woman is Gogo Fatima.
The gunmen also kidnapped five residents of the community; however, three of the abducted victims later managed to escape. Those still in captivity have been identified as Ndagi Kudu and Hawau.
Residents of Patigi and neighboring Edu Local Government Areas have expressed deep concern, as both regions have witnessed repeated cases of killings and kidnappings by suspected criminal elements in recent times.
